The Russian tennis ace, Nikolay Davydenko will try to avenge his second round defeat at the Shanghai Rolex Masters two weeks ago in China to Mischa Zverev, a qualifier from Germany in the first round match of the Open Sud de France on Wednesday.
World number eleven Davydenko has won a single title this year at the Doha tournament where the Russian got the better of current World number one Rafael Nadal of Spain in the title battle. The twenty-nine year old Nikolay also reached the semi final round
in Rotterdam, quarter final round in Australian Open, Umag ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Cincinnati and Beijing.
The owner of twenty ATP World Tour single titles, who turned professional back in 1999, achieved his career high ranking of world number three back in 2006.
The twenty-three year old Zverev enters with a match record of 12-17 this season and advanced into the finals in Metz, semi final in Marseille and quarter finals in Halle earlier this year. The left handed German successfully qualified for the main draw

However, he couldn’t go beyond the third round as he was thrashed out by Juan Monaco in straight sets. He reached the third round after beating Sergiy Stakhovsky and Nikolay Davydenko in the initial rounds. He is currently ranked number ninety-six in the
South African Airways 2010 ATP list.
In the evening session, the Portuguese tennis player Frederico Gil will take on Jo Wilfried Tsonga of France. The twenty-five year old Gil posted his season best showing by reaching the finals of Estoril earlier in 2010 where he was dispatched off by Albert
