Open Sud de France and St. Petersburg Open; Tuesday’s Review
The professional tennis player from the United States of America, John Isner started his tournament’s campaign of the 2010 Open Sud de France Men’s singles competition with a two setter win over Benoit Paire, a wild card entrant

Isner blasted a total of ten aces to extend his ATP World Tour best record to nine hundred and seventy two and capitalized on three of his nine break point opportunities he created to clinch win in the end. The American closed
out the match in sixty seven minutes on Tuesday.
The twenty one year old Paire on the other hand, was contesting in his third tour-level main draw of the season and as a result of this loss has dropped down to a record of 1-3 on the tour.
Isner, who is currently ranked number nineteen in the world by the Association of tennis professionals, is looking for his first top twenty finish after capturing his first ATP World Tour crown in Auckland earlier in the season.
The right hander won the title after getting the better of Clement in the final round. He also ended as finalist in three Future events earlier this year.
The American, as a result of this victory will next take on Adrian Mannarion, a qualifier from France, who fired fifteen aces as he got past Lukas Lacko of Serbia in three sets on Tuesday. The final match score was 6-3, 6-7(4),
6-4. The battle concluded in a time period of two hours.
David Nalbandian, who is seeded number eight to win the title in Montpellier also confirmed his second round spot with a two setter victory over Marcel Granollers of Spain. The final score line was 6-4, 6-4. Competing in his first
tour level main draw since making his way into the third round of the year’s final major, the United States Open in New York, the Argentine lost serve on two occasions however converted four of thirteen break point chances to record victory in eighty eight
minutes on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Mischa Zverev, a qualifier from Germany set up his second round clash with the top seed Nikolay Davydenko, after thrashing out his Dutch opponent Robin Haase in two sets on Tuesday. The final match score was 7-6(7),
7-6(5).
Taylor Dent also cruised past Romain Jouan 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4 of France in an evening session match at the ATP World Tour 250 indoor hard-court tennis competition in Montpellier. The American, will next take on Ivan Ljubicic in his
second round clash.
In other action at the St. Petersburg Open Men’s singles competition in Russia, the third seed Janko Tipsarevic avenged his doubles title battle defeat in Moscow, after beating Igor Kunitsyn to make his way into the second round
of the tournament on Tuesday. The final match score was 6-4, 6-2.
Janko, who finished as finalist along with his partner Viktor Troicki of Serbia in Moscow this season versus Kunitsyn-Tursunov, broke serve on three occasions from five break chances to clinch win in sixty four minutes. The Belgrade
native as a result of this victory has improved his match record to 23-20 on the season.
Elsewhere, the eight seed Victor Hanescu started off his tournament’s campaign strongly, brushing aside Horacio Zeballos in two sets.The final score line was 6-2, 6-0. The Romanian, who made his way into the final four here back
in 2008, converted five of his ten break point opportunities and lost just four points on serve to seal victory in fifty four minutes.
He will take on Rajeev Ram next, a qualifier from the United States of America, who dispatched off Pablo Andujar in a three setter clash on Tuesday. Rajeev closed out the battle in two hours and twenty six minutes.
