I can set specific files to open in VLC, but I have 500+ songs and don't want to go through 'Rightclick > Open With > Other... > Always Open With, VLC' for that many. I'd use iTunes but I'm on an old iBook G4 and it's a big performance hit. So, is there a way to set all .mp3 files to open in VLC? (I'm using Tiger, if it matters)

  1. In a Finder window, click once to select an MP3 file. Then click in the top menu bar File > Get Info. In the info window, under "Open with:", choose the application you prefer. Then click "Change All..." and then confirm the "Are you sure...?" message. This usually works but if there is some corruption of the system, even this may fail to align all the stars.
