Open de Moselle & BCR Open tennis tournament: Latest Updates
The American- Australian duo of Jordan Kerr and Travis Parrott made an impressive start to their Open de Moselle campaign on Monday, dismissing the third seeded duo, Jarkko Nieminen and Michael Kohlmann to make their way into the
quarter final round of the ATP World Tour 250 indoor hard-court tennis championship in Metz. The final match score was 6-1, 7-6(7).
Also through to the quarters are Belgians, Kristof Vliegen and Xaviere Malisse who fought past Dusan Vemic and Stephen Huss in a total of three sets on Monday. The final match score was 7-6(4), 3-6, 10-6. The match concluded in
a time period of just eight five minutes in Metz.
As a result of this victory, the Belgians have set up a quarter final clash with the second seeded pair, Bruno Soares and Marcelo Melo.
The former Spanish winner, Tommy Robredo also toppled Daniel Brands from Germany in the first round of the Open de Moselle on Monday. The final match score was 6-1, 7-6 (3).
Tommy had a total of seven aces and broke serve on two occasions during the second set of the match. He triumphed in the indoor championship back in 2007.
In other opening round clashes, Michael Berrer defeated Rainer Schuettler in a two setter clash. The final match score was 7-6 (5), 6-2. Denis Istomin, on the other hand, got past Florent Serra in a total of two sets. The final
match score was 6-4, 6-4.
Michael prevented all of the four break points in the opening set and surpassed Schuettler on the very first occasion after two defeats in the past.
He broke Rainer’s serve during the second game of the second set to take charge of the clash, and grabbed the victory by breaking once again during the eighth game on Monday.
Denis looked in control when he broke Florent’s serve to take a lead of 4-1 in the second set, however he lost his next two service games as his opponent, Florent bounced back to level the score at 4-4.
Florent then lost his serve on the fourth occasion in the match and Denis took full advantage of the situation to seal victory in the end.
In some other action at the BCR Open Romania, another ATP World Tour 250 championship contested on clay in Bucharest, the Mexican tennis player, Santiago Gonzalez along with his American partner advanced into the quarter final
round with a two setter victory over Simone Vagnozzi and Andreas Seppi from Italy. The final match score was 6-4, 6-4.
A total of twenty contenders will play on the clay court at the BCR Open in Romania on Tuesday.
First up on the centre court will be the eight seeded tennis ace, Jeremy Chardy and his compatriot player, Guillaume Rufin, who is a qualifier. Jeremy, one of the eleven French tennis players in the top hundred and the twenty year
old Guillaume will be contesting on the very first occasion. Guillaume reached his first career ATP World Tour quarter-final during the month of February in Marseille.
In the second contest, a qualifier from Italy, Simone Vagnozzi will take on a wild card entrant from Romania Marius Copil on the very first occasion. Both the players are hoping for their first main draw victories on the ATP World
Tour this season. Marius, at nineteen years and eleven months, is the youngest contender in the draw.
Third on the Centre Court is the sixth seeded Romanian and 2007 finalist, Victor Hanescu, who will face Marcel Granollers. The highest seeded Spanish, Daniel Gimeni Traver will also be on the court, playing against Carlos Berlocq
on Tuesday.
