Open if you've been on a Disney cruise...?

I'm new to this cruise concept.

I don't understand.

Are we on the ship the whole time?

Or is there a hotel?

Our family plans on going on the 4-day cruise in the Bahamas in February.

Is the Disney cruise really worth it?

What is there to offer?

There are small children, teenagers, and adults going on this cruise.

What is there to do?

Please answer, and share your experience.

  1. The Disney cruise is SOOOOO much fun!

You have the option to stay on the ship or get off and explore the islands while the ship is in port. The cruise will let you know what time you are allowed to get off and what time you should be back. There's tons of stuff to do both on and off the ship. Its a great cruise to go on with a family because there's something for everyone. You can sign your kids up for extra activities while you and your spouse go try something on your own, then meet back up for dinner. There's a whole hangout room for teens too, and they get to meet other teens and join them in adventures off of the boat. The staff is GREAT! So helpful and so cheerful. I'd totally recommend this cruise to anyone with kids.

(Make sure you buy the kids the unlimited soda cups... its totally worth it)

  2. To answer simply:

YES! The Disney Cruise is DEFINITELY worth it.

You are on the cruise every night but you pull into port a couple times and go out shopping and sightseeing. No staying at hotels. Children are well looked after- EVERYBODY on the crew is child friendly, polite, and willing to serve you at the snap of your fingers. Children can be watched all day by child specialists in different rooms and activities depending on their age. They paint, draw, use computers, games, meet the costumed characters; It's wonderful! Teenagers have great lounges where music and movies are playing and video games are in stock. There are more computers there and you can meet other teens your age (I've been twice, once when I was 4 and once 14. Both times I was fully entertained!). The adults have their own relaxing section of the boat for daytime activities. There are disco nights, dancing, a private pool and private jacuzzis, massage therapists and alcoholic drinks all around you. There is also a big recreational area for excercise.

When you pull into port it is usually sunny and bright. Disney only travels to the safest places in Jamaica and the Bahamas. They provide an optional itinerary along with various daytime activities they can arrange for you for a pretty reasonable fee. If you go to their private island there's snorkeling, relaxing on the beaches, buffets, EVERYTHING.

There are various family activities on and off board but nothing is pressing and nothing is difficult. Every night you eat at a special restaurant on board that are always fun. One restaurant has pictures filled in with color on a wall beside you while you eat, the other has servers dressed as Pirates and fun parades. There is one restaurant that is a formal dinner.

I've had suuuuch a good time on both cruises and I'm sure you will too! The only problem is they're too short! You should really look forward to this, and know that your rooms, service, and everything on board is like a fancy, 5 star hotel and that there are absolutely no dangers. You'll have such a great time, safe and happy travels!

  3. On cruises, you stay on the ship (which is like a floating hotel) most of the time and visit different places for a day. I didn't go on the Disney cruise but my friend did, and she said the kids loved it but she was overwelmed. Apparently, Mickey Mouse was everywhere and it revolved completely around disney characters. There are lots of things to do on cruises, most of them have a large pool on the deck. Don't worry, boredom is definitely not an issue on cruises! If you do decide to go on a cruise, I'm sure you and your family will have tons of fun.
