  1. I totally agree with you mate. Helmets are pointless!...

  2. Sorry.... you should wear a helmet.  Maybe get your parents to buy you one that looks a little better and is more comfy.... maybe you'll like it more

  3. you don't "need" to wear a helmet, but it's prolly the best idea!

how old are you? and right should be spelled write.

i'm 17 and i don't wear a helmet, and to tell you the truth, i'm thinking about buying one. when i ride i don't wear a shirt or helmet and i'm starting to reallize that if i fell, i'm going to get seriously messed up.

i used to be like you and stuff, but your parents wan't you to wear it for a reason.

haha, i might sound old saying this, but if your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too? lol!

sorry to be against your thinking, but it's prolly for the better...

  4. Maybe if you're not riding anywhere but on a very tame bike path with very little traffic...but that's about the only excuse I can think of.

And honestly...you kind of look like an idiot if you DON'T wear a helmet.  Maybe not to the kids at your school, but definitely to people in their cars, other cyclists, and "99.9%" of the rest of the world.

And if what the kids at your school think is really that important to you...just take the helmet off right before your enter the school parking lot.

  5. i'd wear that helmet.

the only possible argument you have is that they don't look great, which is really week and very vain.

take a look at the quality of life an individual who is brain damaged has particularly if they could have prevented the injury with a helmet.

    have a look at http://cyclehelmets.org/

  6. Helmets have saved my life (or saved me from much more serious injury) twice .... I would never advocate NOT wearing one.

There are NO VALID reasons NOT to wear a helmet.

    - In many jurisdictions it's the law.

    - Helmets are safer (and even if you feel it's your choice, consider that if you are killed your parents will be most upset. and if you are injured they will have to look after you and they and society as a whole will have to pay for your care).

    - helmets are cooler than no helmet (assuming you get one with air vents)

    - helmets can look cool

    - you are actually faster with a helmet than without.

Basically, the only reason you want to not wear a helmet is peer pressure .. a stupid reason.

By the way your math is wrong ... 99.9% of kids in your class would mean you have at least 1000 kids in your class.  And even if you were the only kid using a helmet you would be saying, in effect, "I make up my own mind, and do what is best for me, not what others tell me".  Think about it ... it's way cooler (and more intelligent) to be the person who does it different and not the one who follows the herd.
