Question:

Opening Bank account without SSN or ITIN?

I entered the US on business by B1 visa, and i want to open a bank account, i contacted "Key bank" but they required (SSN or ITIN), "Bank of America" can accept my passport with my home ID but as i am located in Burlington, VT the nearest Bank of America branch is 90 miles away so this is not a very valid option.

So is there any way to open a bank account without having SSN, or ITIN?

Or is it legal to issue an ITIN with my current status?
