  1. I would have to say the Gators will win their first game.  I don't know if that's an upset, but I know they will.

  2. Relevant potential upsets:

#24 Alabama over #9 Clemson (is Clemson finally for real?)

#20 Illinois over #6 Missouri (Juice Williams has another year under his belt)

Northern Iowa over #16 BYU (Northern Iowa went 12-1 last year and can put up a lot of yards)

East Carolina over #17 Virginia Tech (played the Hokies 17-7 last season)

  3. I think Michigan plays Utah for their first game.  I think the Wolverines are going to be a mess for the next couple of years.   Utah could walk out of the big house with a W.

  4. Watch out for this. Good chance of happening

#17 Virginia Tech at East Carolina

    #24 Alabama at #9 Clemson

    Washington at #21 Oregon

    #18 Tennessee at UCLA

    Might just happen(probably wont)

    Hawaii at #5 Florida

    Appalachian State at #7 LSU

    Florida International at #14 Kansas

  5. Last year, way before anyone I know of, I predicted that Appalachian State would beat Michigan.  Nobody took me seriously though.  This year I am making another far-fetched prediction.  No, ASU won't beat LSU.  However, ASU has a big rival down in Statesboro, Georgia named Georgia Southern that has its' own share of National Championships.  They aren't playing a #5 ranked team as ASU did, but a #1 ranked team.  Just remember that you heard it first right here that Georgia Southern will upset #1 ranked Georgia.

  6. I wouldnt use the upset word anymore.

Todays college football is getting whackier by the year not like it use to be where the upset had true meaning. That Appy St over Michigan may end the era of the term upsets and we might start to see less

money games for these smaller programs.

This is why they play on saturdays.

If their is a so called upset in week 1

my vote leans towards the Alabama -Clemson match.

Second possible is the UCLA-TENN match.

The rest should go to the home team.

  7. In every game there's the "possibility" of that match becoming an upset (that's what's great about college football). Last season taught us that fo sho'.  Other than that, I think Illinois has a legitimate shot at beating Mizzou.

All of the other games seem fairly cut-and-dry to me, or, if there are upsets, I don't think they'd be "big enough" to be called a true "upset." For example, #18 Tennessee losing to just unranked UCLA @ UCLA I guess would technically qualify as an upset, but it's not really (in my opinion) a big enough one for people to be screaming "huge upset!"  Then again, I will probably forever base my definition of 'upset' over what happened to Michigan on opening weekend last year, so I guess that'd be pretty tough to beat...

Speaking of, it would be insane to see App. State beat LSU (an article on yahoo! sports earlier today said that App. State has been preparing there balls off for that game all summer long), but I don't see it happenening...I think LSU is probably not going to take that game lightly like Michigan did.

    EDIT;

...oh, and I'll agree that Alabama could definitley upset Clemson. I think Clemson is probably the most overrated top 25 team in this year's pre-season poll.

  8. I can't wait for the App. St. vs. LSU game that should be exciting
