Question:

Opening a credit account when underage.....?

I have an online credit account with a major high street branch to which I owe nearly £2,000. I have no way of paying this as I earn very littler money.

When I opened this account I was not legally allowed to do so. I was 17 at the time but had to be 18 to open the online account, so I lied about my age and was not asked to provide any documents to prove how old I was.

If I contact the company and tell them the above what would the circumstances be? Would it be possible for my debts to be cleared or would this be worse for me eventually?

Please help.

  1. You still have to pay your debt.  When you checked you are 18, you are "legally" submitting your age to them.  You lied.  So I would get more hours at your job, and start paying it off.  You definitely do not was bad credit already.  That affects you getting a car, a house/apartment, other credit cards, etc.

  2. You would be arrested and charged with credit card fraud.

My advice is find someway to pay the debt quickly and never do something so stupid ever again.

  3. it would get worse eventuallly

:( i am so sorry that you have to go through all this but that is mostly the problem now with adults

they open a credit card to early and create debts they cannot pay
