Question:

Opening scene of "The Fifth Element" shows Earth view from space. Where is that prominent peninsula?

During the credits the Earth comes into view at the top of the screen. The peninsula looks somewhat like Kamchatka or eastern Papua New Guinea.

  1. It's been a while since I've seen the movie, so I forget how it opens exactly, but it's possible the feature does not exist:

    The high butte in the middle background is Manhattan.

    Note the apparent change in sea level.

    OTOH, the first scene is Egypt 1914.   Sinai or Arabian Peninsula seem likely.
