My son has had blocked tear ducts since he was born the doctor has been watching for the past year well his check up appoint is coming up. I don't think they have opened on their own and believe he is probably going to have them surgically opened i know its a minor procedure but they have to put him under to do it . my question is, has anyone been through this with their baby what should i expect after surgery. how was your experience

  1. rub along the side of his nose like inbetween his eye and the top of his nose.

  2. My son had this done when he was about 2.  His eyes were always running to the point that he looked like he was crying.  The surgery was really quick.  I doubt it took even 15 minutes.  For the first couple of days his eyes were still weepy.  It was a bit creepy when he cried too because there was a bit of blood in his tears.  I would suggest keeping a close eye on him.  My son ended up with an infected tear duct after the surgery which made his whole cheek swell.  He had to take antibiotics for the infection.
