Opera Og favourite to win Handicap Chase
Opera Og holds the highest betting odds for today’s Niftylift Novices’ Handicap Chase that is going to be held at Towcester racecourse. On Monday, May 14, the Class 5 contest over a distance of 2 miles and 110 yards will commence at 8:00 (GMT).
For the prize cheque worth £1,819, the Venetia Williams-trained bay gelding will show his guts against 7 competitors such as Milly Malone, Amuse Me, Seventh Hussar, Todareistodo, Middlebrook, Russian Romance and Everdon Brook.
Opera Og possesses a decent track record. He has elegantly won both the first and last races of his career. In between these two terrific triumphs, the six-year-old brilliant horse delivered some impressive performances.
Considering the maverick gelding’s excellent racing skills, the bookmakers have tagged him as the hot favourite runner for the Handicap Chase. Thus, the son of Oscar and Maspaloma looks to be confident enough to make a big impact on the soft track.
It is Opera Og’s just second outing at Towcester where he first ran on March 26, 2012 and finished 4th against 8 runners.
If the hot favourite horse runs to his best and keeps his stamina intact from beginning to the end, he will have up to 90 percent chances to finish first in the race.
Todareistodo and Milly Malone are too likely to run confidently.
After 8 races, Todareistodo finally manages to break his maiden in his last start on April 24, 2012. Jim Old’s grey gelding excellently finished first while fighting against 7 rivals. Prior to this, he had grabbed a 7th position against a dozen
of contestants on February 21.
On the other hand, Milly Malone claimed a 5th and a 4th position on January 9 and March 12 respectively. Now, the Oliver Sherwood’s bay mare is looking to break her maiden by winning today’s race.
In this situation, Opera Og will have to face some arduous challenges; however, he is likely o pave his way towards victory convincingly. The race will have some interesting and thrilling twists. Let us see who gains what. Good luck to all the runners.
