Hey guys im building my computer tomorrow and my plan is to get the Windows XP recovery disks and install those as the OS, then get the upgrade vista 32 (which i own) and upgrade to that. My friend did that and saved money instead of buying the full vista 32 premium version, so this will work im hoping, thanks

  1. Use XP

  2. Even better, don't install XP at all:

The question is whether Microsoft bothered to fix that.

  3. yea it should work =)

  4. As long as the license is legitimate, it should work

  5. It should work, but I would try installing the upgrade first-up, instead of actually doing an upgrade from XP.  Usually it will ask you to insert your "qualified upgrade CD" during the process, at which point you can try putting in the XP CD so it can "read it" and know you have a "qualified upgradable product".  It works with OEM CD's, but I can't guarantee it will work with a "system recovery" CD.  It might or might not.  The advantage is you get a completely "clean" install of vista without any "baggage" from the XP install hanging around.

  6. yes, that will work.
