Operation to sideline Arsenal’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukasz-Fabianski-c22910 for remaining season
Arsenal’s first choice goalkeeper, Lukasz Fabianski is expected to miss the remaining four months of the season as his injured shoulder needs to be operated. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Poland-c2983 international injured his shoulder earlier in the season and
aggravated the injury during a warm-up session prior to their match against Manchester City on January 5. He will be travelling to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 for a surgery.
When talking about his injury, the Polish keeper said, "The doctors expect me to take a long break"
"But we'll see if that will happen."
The loss of Fabianski has come as a shock to most, but the person who has probably suffered the biggest setback, is none other than Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger. The 25-year-old had replaced http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Almunia-c23386 as Wenger’s first
choice goalkeeper in this season.
However, with Fabianski now potentially out for the season, Wenger has opted for another Polish keeper amongst the Arsenal ranks, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998.
Under normal circumstances, when a player is given the first-team opportunity, he is bound to be elated, proud, and honoured; however, Szczesny has opted to go ahead and state that he may be the reason Fabianski got injured in
the first place.
Szczesny is reported to have said, "I was warming Fabian up before the game with Manchester City and I took a very powerful shot. He made a beautiful save but also got an injury. I didn't do it on purpose, I was just doing my job.
“I feel stupid about it. I even told him it would have been better if he didn't save that shot. I take advantage of my team-mate's misfortunes."
The Pole, who stands in at 6ft 5in, has played a total of 10 games for Arsenal this term and has managed to keep five clean sheets while conceding only five goals. The 20-year-old has impressed everyone since stepping up to first-team
action, having started as a third choice goalkeeper.
Szczesny’s skills will be put to test on 16 February, when Arsenal take on their European archrivals Barcelona. The last time these two teams met, Arsenal were thumped by four goals; courtesy of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296. However, during that
game, Arsenal had Almunia in between the posts and this time around they will have Szczesny as the last wall in their defence.
Arsenal will next face Newcastle United on Saturday and according to media reports, Wenger stated that Wojciech will be lined up between the posts.
The Gunners will have to do without the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 has returned to full fitness after he picked up a minor injury on his
