Opinion on A Marriage Proposal?

So here's the story I know my girl for about 5 years but have only been serious for the last 6 months I have been throwing hint about marriage and she is taking them. I am going to Santa Domingo at Christmas to meet the rest of her family, Mom and Dad are here in NJ so I know them already. She has a daughter from a previous relationship but she was not married, and her was abusive to her so I want to make this special. I was thinking of asking her father for his blessing and her hand when I get there and then asking her to marry me on Christmas Eve in front of the entire family. Any Opinions.

I like it, asking her father for his blessing will not only give you respect to her & daughter but her entire family. Showing your respect for her and family is a nice touch and should get the answers your looking for.

It might be wise to make sure (with her) that she will say "yes" to marrying you .. before you ask her father for his blessing - and before you proceed with the other proposal.

Also - be sure that asking in front of everybody will not put her in a bad spot.  Some people might prefer this to be a private moment.  There might be some kin-folk there that she might not want to witness this wonderful event in her life.

And .. lastly - when you propose - think about getting on bended knee - with ring in hand (maybe in a nice box) - and confess your love - and propose (just an idea).

Sweet idea - up until the 'in front of the entire family' bit. Maybe take her aside and do it privately so that she can respond more appropriately and maybe isn't so shocked. She might be embarrased if you do it infront of everyone.
