Question:

Opinion on Friends with Benefits Phenomenom?

I'm an 18 year old female and research studies have proven that the recent "hooking up" and "friends with benefits" phenomenom is the death of dating. I personally feel it's sad that a guy does not want to commit and that I will never be smart, pretty, or perfect enough to have a guy want to be my boyfriend. I'm not looking for sympathy --

I'm just asking Why is this happening? Why don't guys in college want girlfriends and respectful relationships?

  1. It's not the death of dating. That's a huge panicked response. And Friends with Benefits is something women choose as well as men.

  2. Both guys and girls participate in this "friends with benefits" practice. Sometimes it's even the guy who wants a relationship, but the girl just wants s*x. Most the time I suspect, however, that it is the girl seeking the relationship and commitment but will take whatever she can get. Desperate girls/guys go to desperate measures to get as close to love as possible.

Personally, I think that girls and guys who do not participate in this casual s*x will find lasting relationships faster.
