  1. I strongly identify myself as a conservative, and came of age during the Reagan years, which was a great time to be a conservative.

But I think it's important to keep in mind that both sides of the political dialogue are valuable, and depending on the situation, either side can have the better solution.

In recent years (roughly 1989-forward) I think both sides have devolved into namecalling and bitter negative campaigning, and a blame game where each side is accused, but neither side serves the best interests of the American people.

If Republicans had leadership that was true to their ideals, I still think Republicans could serve the country better.  But in the push toward globalism, free trade, open borders and a North American Union, Republicans are arguably selling us out as badly as the Democrats.

The difference is, Republicans at their core believe in the Constitution, free enterprise, low taxes, and smaller less intrusive government.   But Bush and the post-2000-era Republican party  have strayed from that course.   If Republicans had been true to their Goldwater/Reagan ideology over the last 8 years, they would still have a huge lead in popularity over the Democrats.

But the Democrats, from the 1960s forward, have always been the proponents of the socialist welfare state, and inherently globalist and anti-American to the core, in their kneejerk tendency to take whatever position is OPPOSITE the best interests of the United States, in misplaced compassion for illegal immigrants over our national interests,  in sympathy for enemy combatants of the United States, sympathy for detained terrorist prisoners, blaming American foreign policy for 9/11, slandering our military, advocating rights for criminals over those of their victims,  divisive false allegations of racism to pursue their political goals, discouraging national unity by advocating "multiculturalism", and on and on.

I believe in Conservatism.   I just wish its present leadership would would demonstrate the clarity of vision to steer us back to level of sovereignty and prosperity we saw pretty much from 1945-1991.

  2. I am a proud conservative from the great state of Tennessee who WILL NOT BE VOTING FOR McCAIN!

He is too liberal for me. Don't know how he backed his way into the nomination.

This TRUE CONSERVATIVE will be voting for Bob Barr.

Those who call themselves true conservatives who vote for McCain are sellouts.

  3. I'm a liberal Democrat.  I'm sure conservatives are as varied as any other group.  We see a lot of rabid posts on both sides on this site.  I don't know that these are particularly representative of either group.

  4. I am a Canadian and if you want to know about liberals just look at our country. The federal liberals have destroyed it for years. They give into every little minority group and forget what the majority want. They look after there own and all they care about is raising taxes. We are one of the highest taxed countries in the free world. Come election they go after the ethnic vote and constantly win. It pisses the rest of us off.Go with the conservatives at least up here they cut taxes

  5. For some reason Liberal have the rob from the rich and give to the poor mentality

I am a conservative and I feel I earned my money, so should everyone else.  Get off your butt and get a job and stop complaining that the government hasn't helped you today

  6. I'm a conservative and could never be a liberal.

  7. I think there are a lot of irrational people on both sides who care more about their preconceived ideals and partisan affiliations than what is actually best for the country. I think liberals are less afraid of government intervention and sometimes a little bit too attached to it, especially in areas of social justice. But right now I think being too attached to government intervention is preferable to being afraid of it to the point of irrationality.

I myself am an Independent who leans liberal on most issues, but not all of them. Not because I'm attached to liberal ideals, but because conservative economic and foreign policy have clearly not been helping us over the last eight years.

We seriously need a Realist movement, or something.

  8. What do I think about liberals? We totally rule.

  9. You've come to the wrong place to get an accurate account of liberals or conservatives.  Most of the liberals on this board are children who aren't old enough to vote.  They will lie to you and say they are old enough and many of them are trolls or in other words little thugs that don't have the balls to get out in the world so they are stuck on their mommy's computer.

  10. Liberals are trying to make this a socialist country.  If it's not their way they claim to be "offened" and try to outlaw it.

Conservatives are trying to keep this a free country and keep the rights of all Americans.

  11. A progressive liberal.
