Question:

Opinion on my 1st pick?

My draft is coming up in about 3 weeks and I now know I have the 6th pick in my 10 team league. I was wanting opinions on who my pick should be. Now I wanted to get a lower spot so it would be justifiable in taking Randy Moss or Tom Brady if they were there. I think there are 5 RBs that you cannot pass up:LT, Westbrook, Peterson, S. Jackson, and Addai. If those are the first 5 gone I would have Moss and Brady sitting there but I expect someone to take Brady because a QB is always taken too early. But if the RBs i mention are the top 5 picks, who would make more sense:Moss, Brady or the next RB to me would be Clinton Portis. Iv always stuck with the get 2 RBs in the first 2 rounds creed but we start 3WR in our league and think it might be worth getting one of the top WR at my pick.

  1. Good thing is in 3 weeks you should have a better picture of what's going on with some pre-season games already knocked out.

I do agree with you and think somebody will take Brady in the top 5.

If so that should make you a lot more comfortable in picking one of those RB's.

If not, consider Brady, even if you don't stick with him you might be able to trade him to one of the top 5. If you do, and this is very very risky, you have to come back in one of the early rounds and still take another top quality QB like Brees or Big Ben or wait just a little bit and take a chance on Bulger or Delhomme, but you have to have a quality QB so that you can trade Brady for a top RB and another quality backup WR for your team.

You may also want to consider guys like Gore and Barber if the above doesn't work out.

  2. If the backs are gone, I think Brady is the  good pick here. He and Peyton score much better than the other QBs so it is an advantage having him. Depending on your league's scoring rules(ie points per reception), Moss would be the pick here. Then you could stick with your mentality of RBs and WRs early. There will still be some good backs in the following rounds, and you can get a mid level starting QB who will have numbers consistant with most of the QBs in the league in round 4, 5, or maybe even 6.

  3. If there is no point per reception in your league than I would try your best to get a running back first and then maybe take ur receiver or qb in the second round, but if the running back you're set to take in the first round is just as good as the next few RB's then I would make a move on a QB or WR in the first round.

  4. get lynch. he is going to hav an amazing season this year. then get a WR such as Colston... then get a RB and another WR with your nxt two picks (Marshall and a RB maybe...) for a QB go with garrard, hesselbeck, or cutler.

  5. Definatley get a running back because they go fast and you can wait and still get a very productive QB, I would take Portis with your pick, then also get a running back in round two(like maybe a Barber or Parker) then get  WR and QB in the next few rounds.

  6. The QB is the new RB.
