  1. I advise all of my customers to replace with the same plugs the factory used originally if at all possible. You would use AC.

I have seen vehicles with many miles (one Windstar had 134,000) on the original plugs. I just changed plugs in a '03 Sonoma with 84,000 miles today, and they still looked great! Gap was about .046 on them, standrad is .040.

Why try and re-engineer what has been working fine?

  2. Personally when it comes to the mechanicals on my own vehicle (2001 Chevy Impala) I use Genuine GM parts.  It is what the vehicle was designed for and I have never had a problem with them.

  3. Buy the OEM replacement plugs. Don't waste money on some supposed "upgrade" type. The factory standard are what were designed to work efficiently and will serve you well.

  4. I had a 95 S-10 with the 4.3L, and the plugs I recommend are the AC Delco R43TS;  that is what should be called for in that engine. As far as wires, any auto parts store should have a relatively cheap set with a lifetime warranty...they are essentially the same as a small block

(350 ci) V8; $30-40 would be my guess on cost.

  5. I also agree that AC-Delco iridium plugs are the best choice for performance and long service life. Consider changing the ignition wires also using AC-Delco parts. Aftermarket wires are very "chancy" and for the sake of a few bucks you don't need the hassle.

I always wipe a bit of silicone ignition grease inside both ends of the silicone rubber boots from sticking because of the heat. It also seals out any moisture that may enter the boots. It will not change the ignition wire ohms of resistance one bit. >

I'm with you 100% conserning the Pulsar plugs. They don't have platinum or irridium tips so how do they think they'll last? You're already getting between 40 - 50,000 voils of energy at the plugs anyway.

  6. OEM recommends Autolite #25. I'd go with that to avoid any drivability problems.

  7. Well if you ask me, I would say the best to put in are MSD (multi spark distribution) cap, rotor, and wires, along with E3 spark plugs, the only problem I have run into with E3 spark plugs is they provide so much spark that sometimes they can blow an ignition coil.  If you get another spark plug get a platinum spark plug (and not bosch, they foul out relly fast), especially for that Chevy

  8. Buy a good set of AC Delco plugs for your truck, nothing else you will put in it will perform any better unless it has been modified from stock.  I will get a pile of thumbs down for saying this but here goes, the car manufacturers spend hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to get a fraction of a percent better fuel economy on a production car while still meeting emissions, I guarantee if all these magic cure all plugs worked they would be in your vehicle when it was new.

  9. If there are no mods.. ACDelco plugs and plug wires.. the best they make.. bought at a Napa or  other parts store that the local garages buy their parts from....... not autozone....
