  1. MILF and other people in Mindanao wants to have an own government...they want to have their own system..because they don't like    the laws of PGMA or how she rules the Phil. that's why MILF are conquering other territories, destroying other's properties and stealing which is wrong and of course the militars, their job is to protect people so there will be a war.. But our country is so small and it isn't go0d if they divide Philippines.

They said a while ago no ceasefire..

  2. The insanely corrupt RPI Govt will never resolve this conflict as they r making money out of it in the most perverse of perverse ways.

They get aid to buy weapons and then they sell those weapons to the rebels through clandestine channels.

Just my observation from speaking to people on the ground.

  3. Take no prisoners.

  4. there has always been, and always will be, trouble in mindanao

  5. It seems to me that every nation bigger than Liechtenstein has a separatist movement.  The Philippines is no exception.

The situation in Mindanao is remarkably similar to the Home Rule campaign for Ireland in the UK in the last century.  The result was the island was split between two warring factions, with the larger portion becoming a separate nation and the smaller still fighting one another into the next century.  At last pax europacea reigns.

The Philippines and the UK are about the same size and comprise two large islands, one dominant over the other and a series of smaller ones.  The country has a majority religion that supplanted the older religion which has a stronghold in just one of the large islands, and religious differences are the source of the conflict.

Does the Philippines follow the example set in Ireland, or can they improve on it?

Other than imposing order, or ceding independence to a part of Mindanao, there is little else President Gloria can do. The real solution must be religious tolerance and peaceful co-existence between Muslims and Catholics living in Mindanao.
