Question:

Opinion on these wedding colors?

Late morning/afternoon Church wedding followed by a Chinese reception in the evening. No date set yet, so I'm not really going by seasons. Just wanna throw these colors out and see what you all think, what impression you get from the combination, etc.

Wine - that deep almost burgundy red

Champagne - probably a couple shades lighter than actual champagne... more white with a hint of yellow

Chocolate - deep rich brown

I'd rather you don't give me what your wedding colors were/will be. I just want opinions on the color combo. Though I will take suggestions on what might go best with the wine color if you honestly think the combination is hideous. (I'm planning on wine being an accent color on my dress.) Also, my sweetie's favorite color is blue.

In my head, it looks elegant. My sweetie thinks it might come off as a little too formal or posh, so I wanna see if that's the impression other people will get. Also, what season does that feel like?

Thanks!

  1. i think the brown, burgundy and a cream/ivory would be beautiful if you do mostly burgundy and ivory with accents of brown throughout.

  2. Personally, I think the Wine might clash a little bit witht he Chocolate but they are most definately beautiful! Personally, I would either have Champagne and Chocolate or Champagne and Wine. But remember, it's your wedding, do whatever you want!

    Congrats!

  3. Awesome!  This was really similar to my colors!  It didn't come off stuffy at all, but very dignified.

Instead of chocolate my accent was a peachy/salmon/pinky color.  It's a thought if you want to brighten it up since it's a day wedding.

  4. I think champaign is better.  Wine really only looks good in Autum and winter.

Champaign is classic and it will look good on your bridesmaids.  Fair women and red heads will be drowned by the burgendy

  5. I think of autumn or winter with those colours. They could look nice but be careful- having too much wine and chocolate together could make it seem a bit dark and drab. If you really want to stick with the wine/chocolate/champagne combination I'd use either one of the wine or chocolate as an accent here and there so it isn't so dark.

Other colours to go with wine:

    silver

    gold

certain greens (avoid the Christmas look!)

  6. I just think brown with the burgundy would be dull. Perhaps a dusty rose or deep peach would be nicer.

  7. im not seeing brown. im thinking black will look better. but embracing color is a wonderful idea, im sure you will make it work! try going to a hobby lobby or fabric store. Get those colors in satin and lay them next to one another. my wedding colors were going to be aqua with accents of red (like red roses) but i quickly changed my mind when i saw the fabric together!

  8. I am having trouble envisioning the brown.. So here's a color chart..

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahogany_(c...

If the brown you mean is Chocolate, Bistre, Taupe, or Seal Brown (or darker)  it will look fabulous...  If you mean a lighter shade,  nope go darker..

Consider throwing in a few splashes on white/off white (baby's breath in floral arrangements,  under table clothes so just a small bit shows, and/or small bits of trim here and there..  The white will tie all the other colors together seamlessly and give the other colors a neutral background to bring them out nicely..

    Addition  Good color scheme...

  9. I think this sounds very elegant. This would be a beautiful fall or winter wedding.
