  1. Usually the joke is that nothing in NJ is nice, but that's because most of us have only been to Newark or Elizabeth or outside Atlantic City.  I have been told that there are parts of NJ that are very civilized and very pretty and that your beaches are also very nice, but when you have to drive through NY and NJ on the thruways, it spoils anything nice that NJ may have to offer.  Also I think NJ drivers are even worse than Boston drivers. So those of us in New England have to put up with slanderous remarks also, so just laugh at what people say and enjoy where you are living.

  2. i dont really care i think its ok

  3. North Jersey is Hot, humid, dirty, nasty, loud, busy , congested, and people are very arrogant.

South Jersey is Beatiful with rolling hills, lots of trees, clean air (kinda), beautiful scenery, and lower temeratures.

if you are condsidering Jersey as a place to love I always say the farther south the better. the people are nicer and more willing to help.

THey do not have that "big City' attitude that they are known for.

I am not saying that everyone in North Jersey is mean or whatever but you all who have been there know what I am saying.

    ZGood Luck!

  4. Northern NJ is crazy. I lived in Newark and it was and still is a dump.

  5. Actually, Northern New Jersey is also beautiful - it's only the area around NY that has the justifiably bad reputation.

  6. I lived in NJ for 32 years, now I live in Indiana with my husband and 4 children. NJ got so exepnsive for us, we lived in Howell and our property taxes went from $5000 a year to $9000 a year in 4 years, we could no longer afford to live there.  We moved to central Indiana and love it here.  The people are so much friendlier, there is so much less traffic, and it is less costly to live.  I had grown up in central NJ (Burlington County) and went to school in Ocean County. The company my husband worked for was laying off, so he got a job here for the same salary before we moved.  I can actually afford to stay home and be with our 4 children here (ages 6, 5, 3, and 15 months), and if we had stayed in NJ I would have had to go back to work and we would have only had 2 children, not be able to afford 4 as we wanted.  We are  going back to visit in 2 weeks, I have not been back in 4 years.  Here we live 15 mins from my husband's job, not 1 1/2 hours down the Parkway!  We miss the beach, Great Adventure, and more shopping... and we hate the weather here (tornadoes!!), but there is good and bad everywhere.  Personally I know NJ is not dirty, but many people in NJ are arrogant, people here seem more innocent and not into material goods.  Everyone is involved in the community and volunteering here, church groups, it is very family oriented and not bitter at all.  NJ is too crowded, too much traffic (most of it), too costly to live, and many people seem "entitled" (not everyone of course).  Going back will be a culture shock to me!!**  To add:  I do defend NJ to all those I meet here, most think it is too crowded and dirty with a lot of crime, I stick up for us all from the East Coast.

  7. Hey.

I lived in NJ for my whole life then moved to Texas and people aways made fun of NJ. lol. They call it NY's  dumpster and think it is disgusting and poor. They think its NY B****h to sum it up for you.

I just think they dont know what they are missing. :)))
