Opinions anyone? Uncommon names?

Question

I always wanted to know what someone who didn't know us thought about our names!

My mom suffers from a complex (she says) of giving children normal names. Her mom cursed her with the uber common name... Rachel.

So this is what she named us!

*Cassius Ray (my brother)

*Demelza Kate

*Calliope Rose (me!)

*Astoria Claire

Woah all 4 of those names are really extremely unique names!!! Demelza Kate is really pretty, as well as Astoria Claire. Cassius Ray s ehh and Calliope Rose is kinda rough.. no offence. I love the middle name but Calliope reminds me of a kind of melon. XD

I have a very unusual name too (paisley) and i think its amusing when people pass judgement on it. Having an unusual name can set you out from a crowd and teach you how to accept others and have good self esteem. Personally i think your mum chose great names and just ignore the people saying that they are weird.

i like ur middle names better.........but ur first names are unique and  my name is Rachelle pronouced Rachel so my names pretty original i like it!

I think Cassius is cute, and so is Astoria. Calliope would be nice if I didn't associate it with Greek mythology. Demelza sounds really made up so, I don't like it, but the first and middle names really clash. Unique with totally common just doesn't fit.

I really like the name Calliope. The only name that makes me cringe a little, is Demelza Kate. She can always go by Kate though, so, at least your mom gave you/siblings options with the normal middle names.

dont get hung up about it its your identity and it already makes a strong one without putting personality to it . no one is going to forget your name

I'll be honest. Cassius is the worst (sorry).

Demelza is pretty bad too.

The other two are strange but not too bad.

i find the pair of and unusual first name with a classic, and common middle name! Astoria is the prettiest!

Cassius is pretty cool actually. So is Astoria (yes, it's a hotel, but just phonetically speaking it's gorgeous).

Calliope. Have to admit, that after looking it up just now, I've been pronouncing it wrong the whole time. I always thought the English pron. is "cal-ee-ope", but apparently it's "kah-lie-oh-pee"? Not sure if I like it or not. Well, I like it written.

I feel a bit sorry for Demelza, though, lol.

Well my parents named me 'Pandora', so I can't really talk! (They were into mythology).

I like Cassius, but not Ray.

I'm not too keen on Demelza (sorry!)

I like Calliope Rose.

I also like Astoria Claire.

They are a bit strange and obviously there will be people who don't like them, but I think they're different and fun.

My daughter's name is Konica which is a combination of Connie and Veronica.   I picked this name years ago when I was in high school. Then not long before she was born the Konica camera/office machines came to the United States.  I have been told by a Japanese friend that Konica is a made up name for them too and doesn't mean anything.
