I was just watching the Tyra Banks show and there was a group of modeling judges basically looking as aspiring models saying "youre too old", "you look too old" "never gonna happen" These girls were 21 years old! I find it strange that some of the best musicians were around mid twenties when being discovered and writing masterpieces while any girl over the age of 18 is considered old for modeling. why do people assume 30 year olds or 40 years olds will want to wear clothes that are only modeled on teenagers? Not only that, but now the older musicians are being seen less and less. Instead, we have Miley Cyrus. Is the entertainment idustry really so age obsessed? What about talent?

  1. The modeling industry is very, very stressful and I admire the models who are tough enough to stay in.  I also feel bad for those who couldn't take the pressure (for instance, Ruslana Korshunova the model who just recently took her life).  I think those who are tough enough to handle the pressure and those who REALLY want to be in the fashion industry should pursue that type of career.  Modeling is extremely rigid and if you can't keep up with its standards, maintain a size 2 to fit those designer clothes or simply take the heat, you won't survive.

On the age issue, ageism is a HUGE problem in society.  The older you get, the more likely society is willing to shun you.  Even if you are 30 and very young looking you can get shut out, especially in the entertainment industry.  The elderly are presumably unable to work, unable to have s*x, etc.  We have Miley Cyrus because she's "fresh" and is already cute today, and her youthfulness is a huge selling point-- she can lure a large audience of children, some older people, etc.  Society in general demands young, beautiful people who are presumably active and able.

  2. I really stoped paying attention to celebrites and hollywoods ideal image of people because they were wrong about so many things, ideal age, weight etc. and it effects the rest of the population in such negative ways. So many people are dieting and becoming anorexic/ bulimic, teenagers are following the music industry of what pop and rap music says to do (like the song lolipop). It really is targeting younger people with no talent just a pretty picture like the jonas brothers and miley cyrus.

  3. now a days they want performers.like over all good performances.not just a good voice, but also hot,pretty,dancer...and fashion industry wants fresh faces(dump i know).most models get discovered in 13-16.

    i actually hate Tyra.
