Opinions of this name for a boy?

I like the name Frankie but feel that in order to use this name the kid should have a formal version for diplomas and other areas of life (like naming a kid Margaret and calling her Maggie, instead of just naming her Maggie). Thus I would use Francis.

Is there another name which could use Frankie as its nickname? It would be in honor of a family member though I'm not too in love with the full name Francis. So alternatives and opinions of Francis?

  1. Frankenstein. That's probably the nick name the kids at school will give him. You're going to hurt him in the long run by naming him 'Frankie'. Maybe consider it as a middle name?

    i have a cousin from ireland whose name is the gaelic form of Frank, i dont know how to spell it, but depending on your nationality, you could do something like that. i dont really like the name franklin, it reminds me of the cartoon as well.

  16. Frankie is so cute! I don't like Francis..at all, it is like Percy, blech! Call him Frank as a full name. With all the whackadoo stuff people name their kids these days - Frank is well within the normal realm. Franklin reminds me of Franklin the turtle too. My son pronounces it Frank-o-lin. So cute.
