Question:

Opinions on Leonardo Da Vinci ((10 points to best answer))?

Freud said that "Leonardo Da Vinci was like a man who awoke too early in the darkness, while others were still asleep."

Da Vinci was a man who was extremely ahead of his time; as an engineer, scientist, artist, musician and etc. All I want is your opinion on the quote above or Da Vinci and so on.

Serious answers only, please. Most thought out answer gets it. Please don't copy and paste from wikipedia - I already read it.

  1. Well, I think he was incredible.

He was one of the prime figures in the Renaissance, and even though his work was sometimes looked badly upon (I am referring to some people's views on Da Vinci dissecting human bodies for the sole purpose of the study of anatomy), his findings helped bring today's medical knowledge to what it is.  Also, his work in the field of art still remains simply astonishing.

The quote in question I think perfectly descibes Da Vinci. The fact is that he was one of the Renaissance figures who started to experiment and act against some of the Church's views. Even though some of his idea's seemed ludicrous to some (eg - the time machine) it just proves that he was a very intelligent and curious man.

Da Vinci was not alone in his quest for modern knowledge in his time, however he stands out as one of the most important figures from his era, in my opinion!

  2. He was a top figure of the renaissance. Surely, his work is amazing, but I’d disagree with that part “.... the darkness, while others were still asleep” it was already the renaissance. & Da Vinci was luckier than Galileo who had to answer to the inquisition.

  3. I believe he some how got a look into the future and tried to duplicate things that he saw. Like the helicopter, machine gun, etc.

  4. i think it fits perfectly. he was a visionary, and he created designs for things centuries ahead of his time. he wrote left handed, which was considered strange. and also, he was totally against war, and even so he created some of the best war machines from that time, and he was an AMAZING artist
