What do you think about michael turner in Atlanta. Do you think he will be a solid running back or a bust. I mean look at lamont jordan, he was a good backup in new york but when he was in oakland he didn't do anything so i just want to know what you think

  1. I had an early draft this year in one of my leagues. I grabbed Turner in the 6th round (a steal). The Falcons have a new offensive coordinator, Mike Mularkey, who used to coach Jerome Bettis. He has publicly stated that he plans on using Turner in a similar manner as he once did Bettis. The main difference between the two backs is that Turner has the ability to break away for very large gains. Plus, keep in mind, that for the past six seasons, he has been backing up (and learning from) one of the best Rbs in the history of the game, LaDainian Tomlinson. During those six seasons, he averaged 5.5 yards per carry. Despite spliting reps with Norwood, I'm sure that he'll be given AT LEAST 15-20 carries per game. I feel he will prove to be a solid #2 RB in all fantasy leagues and put up well over 1000 yards plus 6 TDs

  2. I'm starting him week 1 cuz he's playing against DET. He'll easily get lots of carries since the falcons will be awful. Don't expect him to be there in the 3rd round, but don't let him be the first RB u take

  3. Jordan did go for 1025 and 9 touchdowns his first season in Oakland...

But yeah, the last two years sucked.

I think Turner will ultimately be better than Jordan was in Oakland but it might not start this season. He'll split carries, probably getting 12-15 carries a game. Norwood will also get some.

But Turner should also get the majority of the goal-line carries. So I think he might not be an every week starter but he'll be good as a third RB in certain matchup situations.

    Good luck.

  4. Turner is a pretty decent back with good vision and explosive downhill running ability.  He's going to be the focal point of an offense that will focus on the run, and Atlanta's o-line isn't terrible.  I would say he's going to have a decent fantasy year - not a top ten RB but possibly in the top 15 or 20.  Norwood will take some of his carries, but the offense will be so focused on the run I wouldn't be surprised to see him rack up 20+ carries in most games.  He is not a great receiver out of the backfield however.

  5. He will do fine. He should not be a starter for any fantasy league, but could prove to be a solid back up on your roster. QB situation in ATL is grim so he will definitly get some carries.
