I am getting ready to test as a preliminary skater for USFSA. I need new skates and was thinking about getting the riedell elite royal boot and the John Wilson pattern 99 blade. Has anyone used these? Opinions?

  1. hey, i have pattern 99s and i love them! the toepicks reli help with jumps and for me they help wth my spins [coming from having coronation aces before]

  2. You are getting ready to test Preliminary - you do not need this much boot or blade unless it is used.  If your foot has stopped growing, it might be okay, but this is a lot of skate for your level.  It is recommended for Novice on up which means I would put no less than an intermediate skater in it.

What jumps are you working on?  The new Riedell 1310 is a great boot (works like the hinged boot without the actual hinge) and is very light weight.  I would put a Vision blade on the 1310 for a preliminary skater.  It also depends on what boot/blade you are using now - you don't want to go down from what you have now, but you don't want too much boot either.

  3. well i have the new proflex and i LOVE them! They hinge at the anlkle!! they work great !!!

  4. get them they are great
