Opinions on "Watchmen" please.?

Hi, I have never read a comic book before, but I saw the trailer for the upcoming film based on the book and it looks great.

So, what is this like for people who have read it. On many websites it is called one of the all time great novels, not just graphic novels. Would you recommend it, and can it be read by people who don't really read comic books?

i would definitely recommend it, to anyone.

i read it as i was just getting into comic books, and i loved it.

even if you've never read in that format before, you get used to it and it kind of fades away that you're reading a graphic novel and not a real novel.

Well, as one of the superior achievements in comics, I'd definitely recommend it. For a time I lived at a hostel in L.A. where I read often had my comics lying around. Surprisingly, people had heard about yet never touched a comic book before, picked it up and started reading it. Only a few got to finish it due to its massive size and my short time there, but the rest were certainly intrigued by the story.

It is a complex work, though. People who've read comics understand how Watchmen changed the way readers view a comic book - characters can no longer be caricatures or card-board people, and that has vastly improved now. It started an entire line of comics, aimed at mature readers, and due to that, many are very grateful, myself included.

I would recommend it. Maybe you can borrow it at a library to see if you like it, so you won't waste money on something you don't consider worthy of your time. I started my comic book obsession three years ago (I'm nineteen now) when Sin City came out and read comics by borrowing comics from the library. After Sin City and V For Vendetta, I started Watchmen, and I wish I was the one who had the entire Watchmen experience to look forward to.

Watchmen by Alan Moore is a well written and drawn book and it is an excellent introduction to the world of comic books with serious themes .

Watchmen is by far the best comic book, I've ever read. In like... the history of my life. I would literally murder to ever see a book as good as Watchmen. It can be read by anyone, as long as they speak and read English, and by the way, the movies gonna be awesome.
