Question:

Opinions on these names with an unusual surname?

Me and my partner are trying for a baby and we have some ideas for names (in advance!)

The surname is Humpleby. Now I like different names but I want to make sure they sound okay with the surname.

For a girl we love Sakura and Maddison. We are 100% set on these names.

For a boy we love Malakai but want to see what other people think with the surname?

Opinions will be appreciated!

  1. I think that Justin would also be good... I think malaki is a type of animal...

  2. Malakai, is that Japanese?  I've always toyed around with the idea of using an Asian name.  I like Yukari and Chiyo.  We named our kitten Tomo and it's really cute for her (I know that's different from naming a CHILD but still).

Maddison is a nice name but 1) It's very common and 2) is the extra D really necessary?  If you love it though, you love it.  That is just my opinion. I will say that it does go cute with the Humpleby.

  3. I like Madison best. I don't like Malakai. I think you can find a name that sounds a lot better with your last name. Micah is sort of similar but sounds better. Good luck!

  4. First of all, Maddison Humpleby-- Awesome. Hehe.

I actually really like Malakai and I personally think it goes just fine with the surname. =)

  5. i like the name Malakai, but the surname Humpleby makes it sound too silly. i dont think they work well together.

  6. I prefer Maddison

  7. Maddison is so overused she'd be one of 7 girls in her class called that.. As for Malachi.. use the Biblical spelling and not some goofy made up spelling trying to be "trendy"

  8. I prefer maddison a thousand percent to sakura. I went to a hibachi place once with that name.

  9. Definitely Maddison over Sakura. Don't care for Malakai at all.

  10. Well, the surname is a mouthful but there's not much you can do about that, is there?  :)

I do like your girl names, although Maddison is so very overdone.

Malakai is too girlie for my taste to be propounded upon a boy--who will one day be a 50 year old man named Malakai.  It reminds me of the Hawaiian island where they put lepers years ago.  In fact the spell checker wants to change it to the island name  Molokai!
