Just for curiosity sake, I would like to know what you guys think of this. This is a 7 year old Quarab gelding, unregistered, green. Clean bill of health, a little underweight. He is 15h, has great feet. The owners are asking $1000. What do you think of his conformation blah blah blah. Thanks!

  1. a bit long in the back for his hight but other than that he has straight legs and a very cute face a lil under weight as well but very nice lil horse

  2. He's adorable! I think he has good conformation, and that sounds like a pretty good price. I think you should get him, he's adorable, and has a very kind face ♥

  3. he is the cutest quarab ive ever seen. if you are willing to finish him out, i think he'd be perfect. he's ADORABLE

    good conformation too

  4. He is very cute! i love black horses!!

Quarabs are great animals. i have a palomino Quarab, she is a marvelous barrel horse in the making.

depending on what KIND of arab this one has in him, he might be as smart and willing as my Leira is.

at 7 years old, green broke really isn't acceptable. so he was priced right. as he looks pretty sound (and yes a little underweight)

If you are thinking about buying him, i would suggest making an offer of more around... $700-$800

just because of the weight and being only green broke.

Nice horse though! i would like to see more muscle on his butt... but thats about it!

  5. I think he's a beautiful horse. His conformation looks really good. I would buy him now before he gets more training and is more expensive. They may not do that but some people do. Once you buy him you might want to train him a little more. Good Luck!

  6. This horse looks somewhat suitable. I agree he looks rather small for his age. If you are interested in buying him i seriously recommend that you really know how to ride really well and know what you are doing. If you know what you are doing i would still recommend seeking help from a professional. He has high withers so it might be hard to find a well fitting saddle. Also I think that at the age of seven it will be a lot of work, but it might be worth it. I think 1000 dollars is way to much. you should only pay 500 at the most. but if you have the money and A LOT of experience. GO for it. That's about all i have to say. I like his head, but his eye in the one picture looks kind of spooked. I would think he needs a good amount of handling before you try backing him. it would be nice if you could get him out of the farm he is on. I think a lot of people run into the same situation.

  7. Cutie

  8. overall he looks pretty good. maybe a little over at the knee, but I can't tell and that doesn't bother them anyways.

He seems like he's got some spunk and could be a hand full if he stays in a lot.

But I like him.. I hope I helped and good luck if you get him(:

  9. Okay. I needn't even bother looking at pictures because the minute you said unregistered, GREEN 7 year old and they ONLY WANT $1,000 for it sent a red flag. Save yourself time and trouble because for that price tag you can find yourself a REGISTERED, FINISHED horse that is in great health.

But to help you along with this, I'll take a look at the pictures.

He's long in the back,  Shallow hipped, toe's out, and has a slightly straight shoulder. Can't tell from the pictures(people need to learn how to take a conformation shot), but the neck appears to be long also.

EDIT- $700-800. That's even stretching it. I wouldn't give more than $250 for him. Especially when a well broke registered mare is going for $300 at barn auctions.

  10. He has nice conformation. Is he trained? In today's market $1000 seems awful high for an unregistered horse unless he is well trained. It is hard to get $1000 now for a good conformed registered horse nowadays.

  11. very cute horse and i LUV the halter were did ya get that. so cute.

is he/she a rescue horse but dont pay 1000 bucks for a horse like that unless he is broke to ride.

  12. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... he is so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  13. i think he looks good for $1000 he looks very healthy and is very cute i would get him if i were you and it seems like you've done all your research on him

  14. Not being there, it's really hard to tell. From the pictures and your descriptions I'm getting this opinion:

Don't spend $1000 on this horse. Confirmation is not too far off to be a no-buy, but he's got problems. I would guess that most of these problems are behavioral, stemming from being neglected. He's 7 years old and really green? Your first question to them is WHY? He's underweight, so he could have some other health issues stemming from that. His front feet are bothering me a little, and it's hard to put my finger on why. They seem a little short, like maybe he's up on his toes too much? (anybody else seeing that or am I just off?) Could be the shot, could be the Arab in him. Like others have said, the market is down, he's unregistered, and green. Bottom line, sounds like somebody paid too much for this horse for their daughter, she won't do anything with it, and they're trying to get back some losses before El Cabong there hurts their little girl. Turns into a lot of work for you, and maybe a horse that costs you a lot in training, or a problem horse that you have to sell at a loss later. I'd counter offer a lot lower if you're stuck on him. (I've been there, really :) I know how frustrating it is to really want what's probably bad for you...) Good luck!

  15. well hes got high withers and if you ask me i wouldn't buy him hes just looks a bit small and doesn't seem to look that much like a quarter horse.

    i give him a 3 1/2 out of 10

  16. To A Zaber I seriously doubt that is a mule this is a mule

    He is really pretty

  17. I like him. He looks like a great buy. Go for it!

  18. He is very very pretty, and muscular. i think his conformation is good. He is a little short for me, if you are taller i would not recommend him just becuse of how you would look on him, but if you are not going to show and just want a horse to ride then he should be fine, you might need a trainer unless you are experienced, but then you would probably know that already. If you want to show big you should get him regestered, but for 1000 he is not bad! i would look at him, but he would need training to be a show horse.

    Good Luck!

    hoped i helped

  19. Gorgous Horse-Go For It-Dont Live Your Life Wondering What Friendship You Could Have Had!! x !!

    Hope I Helped :D

  20. Oh great hunter/jumper prospect If your english

Very pretty from the pictures id say 1000 is ok but i would need to ride him. Great bones and legs.

    Good Luck,

    Equest.Equine

  21. He is beautiful.  With some work and time he will be what you want him to be.

  22. His conformation is pretty good.  He has good straight legs, a very slightly long back, and from the picture he looks to have a good slope to his hip as well as a long thin neck.  The solid legs are great that's one of the first things I look at when buying a horse it tells you whether they'll be sound enough in general to do the job they're intended for.  $1000 seems a bit high for an unregistered green horse though with the horse market being so bad.

  23. He looks like a very nice horse!  Nice Legs and body. He looks a little scared in his eyes but he looks like a great horse! I think it'd be nice to have a horse that you can finish his training off the way you would like it. I like the colour on him too! Good Luck!

  24. he is cute, but also a buyer beware.  I would have a full vet check done on him.  in today's horse market $1000 seems like way too much. especially with the story they gave you.   he does look like a rough ride.

why does their daughter never ride him? why was he registered half arib or quarab?  do the current owners have his breeding certificate or info on his sire/dam so that you can get him registered?  this way you could also verify that they truly do own the horse.  sounds bad I know but I also several people who bought horses that turned out to be stolen as unregistered, I wont touch anything without papers because of it!

  25. ADORABLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Buy him he is sooooo cute!

If you get him name him eather Pistal or Jiffy

  26. Nice. little small for my liking, and his shoulder is pretty straight, and from the picture it looks as though he is post legged, but that might just be the picture. other than that, go for it. Hes gorgeous.

and its definetaly a horse, not a mule.

  27. He's okay...but I wouldn't pay a $1000 for him...

Horses like him are a dime a dozen at sale barns for $150 to $250.

That person holding him must be extremely tall if that horse is 15 hands.

Cool halter, wish I could find a rope halter like that one :D

  28. he's adorable!! if you're willing to put the time and effort of training him, then he's a catch!

  29. why are they selling an underweight horse for a 1000$ is there a particular reason hes underweight? Is there medical issues? teeth issues? ownership issues? Is he neglected? I would seriously re-think this horse. He looks like he's clean up nice, and be a pretty horse, but green and underweight at 7? lots of work
