I have had a lot of questions about vbac I want to do it after 2 c-sections. I have heard bad things and good things. I want to know what people think about it. Maybe I will understand why doctors and other people look down on it. I understand the risks but on the other side it is good for the baby and the woman if everything goes well. The risks are not much worse with having two instead of just one. I don't plan on having it for a while but Just want to know. If there are nurses on here I would like to know what you think. It might help me decide. Thanks.

  1. The answer to this question totally depends on WHY you had the first 2 c-sections.  If you had them because your cervix wouldn't dilate, the baby was too high and wouldn't come down, or your pelvis was too small, then having a vaginal delivery would be contraindicated.  It would be dangerous to try and force the issue when you've already had 2 pregnancies that had to go the c-section route due to failure to progress or a physically limited space.

However, if you had a c-section because the baby was in a  breech presentation, had the cord around its neck, or was scheduled simply because you'd already had one c-section, then you would probably be a good candidate for VBAC because those situations are relative only to that particular pregnancy.

Personal Experience:  My first child was born vaginally with no complications after 3 hours of labor.  My second child was in a breech presentation, which we didn't find out til I was in labor, and I had to have an emergency c-section.

I asked my dr if I could VBAC for my third and she felt there was no reason why I couldn't since I had already had a successful vaginal delivery.  My 3rd child was born vaginally with no complications after 43 minutes of labor.  (lol)

Hopefully you are in the same kind of situation and can achieve a vaginal delivery if that is what you wish.  But if you can't, please don't think it's some sort of failure on your part.  Any type of delivery that results in a healthy baby is a good delivery.
