Opinons about the arab league?

Why i think the arab league is a waste of time?

here are thoughts about that organisation from an israeli

its worthless and here's why:

1)no arab state actually does anything agreed in that league

take egypt's peace treaty with israel and the arab boycott of israel (the boycott is worthless and broken since its known israeli goods end up in enemy states)

2)its a waste of money which could be used to help hungry arabs

3) no offence to any arabs out there but the league doesnt have the three biggest powers in the region as members: Israel, Iran and Turkey which makes it ineffective and exclusionist

if there was peace i would propose a new sort of economic league based on the EU which grants membership to all middle eastern countries.

i think this league will have as much power as the EU or US economically

what are your opinions

it would be interesting to see what arabs think about the league and how it represents them??

  1. the arab league's sad ineffectiveness can be seen in the fact that the zionist state israel is still on the map and occupying stolen territory.

  2. Since I don't agree with the creation of Israel as a state (as the land was originally Palestinian before it was Israeli and all Israelis have done is illegally expand on it), I find the Arab League a necessary coalition to bring justice to Arabs.

However, they are not very effective because, as mentioned, they do not have the support of the major powers of the region, nor do they do much. I understand Arab anger towards Israel, though, as much as I detest violence.

Problem is that there will never permanently be peace while Israel still exists. To solve the Middle East crisis, you must somehow convince/persuade the Arab states to accept Israel and that simply can't be done by force. In fact, force will have the opposite effect.

I'd say it's necessary, but not as effective as it should be.

  3. Its good for nothing.

  4. The Arab League is just a useless talk fest for the Arab dictators and sheiks. They never done anything to invest the oil money wisely for the benefit of the people, to make peace in the Arab world and peace with Israel. If the Arab League could be transformed to a civilised organisation like a Western political or trading block, they could do a lot for the benefit of the people and for sake of peace. But this is far too much to hope from the Arabs. They are at least 1000 years behind time.

  5. The purpose of any Arabic organization is to push the Jews into the sea,so the name of Israel would be no more! But it will never happen!

  6. Talking never hurts anybody, but when it come to international politics; " there is never a last word in diplomacy". There are forums like the Commonwealth, African Union and the Arab League, which over the years have served their purposes and founding goals....which may not be to your agreement, but the people who came together to found them still find them necessary.....but these days it seems the AL gets together only to protest highhanded American actions in the Middle East and elsewhere, this should not be the case.

Might is not always right; as we have all come to learned from the dumb Bush's war in Iraq, neither the see or hear no evil of the AL over attrocities commited by fanatics is helping build confidence in the AL honest broker claims or intent. In the intrest of world peace and prosperity, all people of good will should use what ever forum available to peacefully advance their intrest respecting the fact that we all have this small world to share.

The contentious issues affectng all communities will increase by the day, for example the use of water, boundries and internal security. we have to all look for consensus solutions be it in the ordinary home owners gathering or at the UN.

JAW JAW and not WAR WAR.......

  7. i think they just do what all arabs do argue and do nothing, (though sometimes it gets violent). they did agree on one thing though, to attack isreal when it was first created.
