My favorite author.

Considered to be the father of  detective fiction, played a part in  developing science fiction, a poet of rare quality.  A master of horror and the macabre.

A bit of a mess as far as personal life.  Seems to be intelligent, yet stubborn.  Faced a lot of adversity, but was brilliant in literature and criticism.

I feel that Edgar Allen Poe was misunderstood. Yeah he was mean and he wrote all the scary poems and stories, but I feel that it was because he was alone and problems in his life have caused him to get messed up.
