  1. Well I would think that after long term use, you have decreased your chances. The drug seriously affects your liver, causes long term health problems that you may not have experienced if you did not use the drug. There are allot of psychological problems that follow also. Being addicted to opium is very similar to heroin addiction. People become dependant upon the drug to maintain their everyday activities. So therefore, after long term use, you WILL have withdrawls when you stop using the meds. Hope this helps!

  2. Here's a fact that will be important for your report:

Opium can be used for good, legal things, as well as bad, illegal things.

Two good things people make out of opium are medicines like codeine and oxycodone.  They are powerful painkillers that help patients recover after surgery.

One bad thing that people make out of opium is heroin, which is one of the most addictive drugs of all.  People who take it feel like they need it in increasing amounts, which leads to many bad things like:

    1) diseases from unclean needles.  Sometimes people get hepatitis or aids

    2) some people experience sudden kidney failure.  And as you know, you can't live without kidneys.

    3) some people feel like they need it so bad that they spend all of their family's money on it, and then their family has no money to pay rent or buy food.

    4) in the worst cases, heroin addiction lead to overdoses, which result in death.

  3. you can just type in "opium" or "heroine" into a search engine and it will tell you all of the long term effects.
