We? Thais? To my knowledge you got this in the wrong section.  It popped up here because Opium is a keyword for Thailand, thanks to the 'golden triangle'.  

By and large the drug trafficking that was prevelant in Burma and the northwest quadrant of Thailand is only a ghost of its former self.  The 'golden triangle' per se is gone, but drugs will continue to be a problem as long as there is money to be made.

Anyway, ask your question in US politics, or some like forum and you should get the answer you are looking for.
