Opponent Preview: Detroit Lions face Green Bay Packers in Week 14, Arizona Cardinals in Week 15
We are winding down our preview to final four games of the 2012 season and these last four weeks will be crucial to the Lions as they could decide whether the team reaches the playoffs or not.
With two games against National Football Conference (NFC) North Division rivals in addition to tricky fixtures against Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons the run-in for the Lions is tough.
Week 14: Green Bay Packers
This will be the game to watch once again.
As we talked in our earlier preview, the Packers are the strongest opponents Detroit faces in the regular season and playing them at Lambeau Field is a tough assignment for any team.
Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers is expected to continue his brilliant form from last season which led him being named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season.
With both teams boasting talented offences the winner of this game is likely to be the team which outscores the other making this encounter a mouth watering prospect.
Last year’s game between the Lions and Green Bay at Lambeau Field ended in a 45-41 victory for the Packers.
Both quarterback Matthew Stafford and Green Bay’s backup Matt Flynn passed for exceptional numbers yet Flynn just managed to shade it in the end to give the Packers victory.
This game will shape up into an epic battle of wills between two of the most talented offences in the NFC North Division with fans getting to see the best the NFL has to offer.
Week 15: Arizona Cardinals
There is a battle for the starting quarterback position at Arizona with both Kevin Kolb and John Skelton preparing to compete with each other during training camp.
It will be interesting to see which quarterback gains the position of starter and whoever it is has one of the best receivers in the league to count on for the big plays.
Wide receiver, Larry Fitzgerald is on a five season streak of consecutive 1000-yard seasons and is the best player in the Cardinals offensive line-up.
However, he will need the help of either Kolb or Skelton to provide the accurate balls.
They are a tricky team to defeat and even though last season the Cardinals ended up with an 8-8 record they are not to be taken lightly.
Head-to-Head
Both teams have faced each other 62 times. Detroit has won 33 times while Arizona has come out on top 24 times.
Five games have ended up tied.
