Opponent Preview: Green Bay Packers face Chicago Bears in Week 2, Seattle Seahawks in Week 3
After a tough fixture against the San Francisco 49ers in week 1 the Green Bay Packers will face their first divisional rival in week 2 when they take on fierce rivals Chicago Bears followed by their first away game of the season against the Seattle Seahawks
in week 3.
These will not be easy fixtures and the Packers will have to be at their best in both games to secure victories against tricky opponents.
Week 2: Chicago Bears
Both the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears have one of the fiercest rivalries in the National Football League (NFL).
Being two of the best teams in the National Football Conference (NFC) North division, the Packers and Bears share an intense rivalry and no one will be looking to give even an inch to their opponents.
Even though Green Bay in recent years have always had the better of their rivals, this year Chicago Bears will take to the field with a much improved team.
The Bears have improved greatly in offence after making some major purchases during the offseason.
Chicago Bears brought in wide receiver, Brandon Marshall and running back, Michael Bush this offseason to improve the offence while have also successfully ended the holdout of running back Matt Forte.
The Packers will have to watch out as this year’s Chicago Bears team is better than what they have become used to in recent years and this game has all the makings of a tough encounter.
Head-to-Head
Both teams have faced off against each other 184 times.
The Packers trail Chicago in wins as they have won 86 times to Chicago’s 92 with six games ending in draws.
However, in recent years Green Bay has been dominant over the Bears and Chicago will be looking to end the Packers winning run over them this year.
Week 3: Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are not an opponent to be taken lightly.
Last year the franchise ended up with a 7-9 record due to some poor performances in offence especially from quarterback Tarvaris Jackson.
This year though the franchise has brought in former Packers backup quarterback Matt Flynn who has greatly impressed and he is sure to tell his team all about Green Bay’s playing style when they meet in week 3.
The Seahawks also have a great threat from running back with Marshawn Lynch capable of big plays.
Green Bay Packers will likely have too much skill for the Seahawks but the Seattle team can spring a surprise.
Head-to-Head
Both teams have faced each other just 15 times with the Packers winning 10 and the remaining five being victories for the Seahawks.
