Opponent Preview: Green Bay Packers face Houston Texans in Week 6, St. Louis Rams in Week 7
After two tricky fixtures in week 4 and 5, the Green Bay Packers will face a relatively easier time in the following two weeks as they continue on the road.
The team’s first stop will be in Houston where they will face the Houston Texans, a side that in 2011 delivered some great performances to qualify for the playoffs and go all the way to the divisional round.
After that they will face the St. Louis Rams who unlike the Texans performed poorly in 2011 and this season too their prospects do not seem much brighter.
All in all if the Packers play at their normal standard these games barring the one against Houston will not be much of a problem.
Let’s preview the two opponents Green Bay will face in week 6 and 7.
Week 6: Houston Texans
The Texans have a strong squad on their hands this season.
With two quarterbacks who showed their wonderful talent and eye for the pass in the last season, the Texans have great depth at the important quarterback position.
Both Matt Schaub and T.J Yates played a crucial role in the Texans 10-6 regular season and their march to the playoffs.
In running back Arian Foster they have a playmaker that can be devastating with big plays and can play at receiver too.
The defence is solid as well and this is a side that can give teams headaches on their day.
It will be a tough encounter for the Packers but their overall quality should be enough to see them through.
Head-to-Head
It is one of the rarest fixtures in the National Football League (NFL) and this will be just the third time that these two teams will face each other.
Both have won one game and lost one also.
Week 7: St. Louis Rams
Unlike the Texans the St. Louis Rams will not be much of a problem for Green Bay Packers on the road, although this assertion can only be made on paper as football games tend to crush all predictions.
The Rams had another horror season in 2011-12 and ended the season with a 2-14 regular season record.
Nothing worked for the Rams either on offence or defence as they ended up at the bottom of statistical charts and the team moved from one defeat to the next.
The Rams this year too seem pretty weak and won’t pose many problems for Green Bay Packers.
Head-to-Head
Both sides have played each other 92 times. Green Bay Packers have 44 wins to the Rams 46 while two games ended up tied.
