Opponent Preview: Kansas City Chiefs against Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints
It’s time for opponent preview again and this time we are previewing Kansas City Chiefs and their opponents in the first, second and third week of the 2012 regular season.
Like other teams, Chiefs are getting ready for the upcoming season. Their training camp is going to start soon while they will play their first game of the season against Atlanta Falcons on September 09, 2012.
Week 1: Atlanta Falcons
Falcons will be a tough nut to crack for Chiefs. The last time these two teams played against each other was in 2008. Falcons won that game 38-14.
Falcons are coming from a 10-6 season and they have also strengthened the roster to a great extent. They have drafted Peter Konz who is coming with a good reputation.
Chiefs’ offence faces a daunting task of going through Falcons’ strong defence. Chiefs’ quarterback Matt Cassel will have to work hard to give his team a chance to win.
Head-to-Head
When it comes to head-to-head records, both the teams have played only seven games against each other. Chiefs are leading with five wins against two by Falcons. Chiefs will play Falcons only once in the 2012 season.
Week 2: Buffalo Bills
Facing Buffalo Bills will be a fairly easy task for Chiefs. Bills finished 28th in the league last season and are not looking very well again.
All Chiefs need to do is give good performance in defence. With the return of safety Eric Berry to the field, Chiefs can up pressure in line of scrimmage and exert pressure on the opponents.
Chiefs have the strength in the offence to shatter the Bills defence. They have signed offensive tackle Eric Winston who can be handful this season.
Head-to-head
Both teams have confronted each other 43 times. The Bills have the lead with 24 wins while Chiefs have won 18 games. One game was tied. There in only one fixture between these two teams this season.
Week 3: New Orleans Saints
For Chiefs, this could be the chance to win against a quality team like Saints.
On the other hand, Saints are in a mess after Bountygate scandal, with head coach, other coaches and several players being suspended.
Yet one cannot underestimate the talent that has been left on the Saints’ roster. Saints are coming from a 13-3 season and their encounter against the Chiefs is really going to be a tough one.
Head-to-Head
Chiefs and Saints have a neck-and-neck record against each other. They have played nine games with Saints winning five of them, while Chiefs won four. They will play only one match against each other this season.
