Opponent Preview: New York Giants face Green Bay Packers in Week 12, Washington Redskins Week 13
After playing 10 games, New York Giants will finally have their bye week, after which they are going to take on two teams from the National Football Conference (NFC).
One of them is from their own NFC East division, while the other one from the NFC North division.
Here is a look at Giants’ prospects against them.
Week 12: Green Bay Packers
After winning the 2010 season, the Green Bay Packers started their 2011 season campaign in an exploding manner.
Their threatening offence crushed almost all the opponents, and it was decided well before the end of the regular season that, the Packers would play in the playoffs of the 2011 season. Some also predicted that they would win the title again.
Packers were a bit sluggish in defence, but their offence was so destructing that, the errors in defence were not that much highlighted.
Packers had the best quarterback in Aaron Rodgers, who impressed even his opponents.
Packers won 15 games in the last regular season to enter the playoffs as the top-seeded team.
Unfortunately for Packers, the Giants defeated them in the first playoff encounter and qualified for the NFC championship game.
After an impressive regular season, Packers were sent packing just after one playoff game, and that hurt them pretty bad.
They are going to avenge that loss, and Giants must be very cautious against the Packers.
Giants did amazingly well to contain the Packers by improving their defence, and the same recipe could once again help them beat the Packers.
Packers’ strength is their offence, and if the Packers do not improve their defence they stand vulnerable against good teams.
Nevertheless, Packers cannot be rated an average team against the Giants, who will have to work really hard to win.
Head-to-head
Giants and Packers have faced each other 57 times. Giants have won 24 games, while Packers have an edge as they have won 31 games. Two games were tied. Giants and Packers are going to play one game against each other in the 2012 season.
Week 13: Washington Redskins
Washington Redskins quarterback, Robert Griffin III, who will be the centre of attention in the 2012 season will be judged this time, and since it will be Giants’ second meeting of the season with the Redskins they will already know how to play against them.
If Redskins’ offence changes in presence of the rookie, then Giants must also come up with new tactics to counter his strength.
Giants will have four more games to play after this encounter.
