Opponent Preview: Oakland Raiders face Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers
We carry on our opponent previews for Oakland Raiders in the 2012 season.
As we have already previewed the first seven games of Raiders, we have reached the middle of the season. In this edition, we will preview the games to be played in week 8 and 9.
At this point of time, most of the teams would be coming back from bye week and they will be fully fresh coming into week 8.
Week 8: Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs are one of the teams that can surprise everyone this season. Last season, they finished 7-9. This time they are coming with a more dynamic roster.
Their offensive team looks really strong and promising, but their quarterback can become a weak point.
One thing that will be interesting to see is that how the defensive team of the Raiders will deal with the Chiefs’ fast offensive line-up.
Raiders’ defence has been average to say the least. They were ranked 27 last season and things are not looking good again. Also, Chiefs will be coming back after bye week, so they will be much fresher than Raiders.
The last encounter between the two sides was held on December 24, 2011. Raiders won that match 16-13. These two sides will play two matches this season. The second encounter between these two sides will be held in week 15.
Head-to-Head
Raiders and Chiefs have faced each other 106 times. Chiefs have won 55 games while Raiders have won 49. Two games ended in a tie.
Week 9: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Although Tampa Bay Buccaneers gave a disappointing performance last season, this offseason they have prepared a good roster after signing some top-notch players.
Buccaneers have also played it wise this offseason by offering contract extensions to their important players.
They also have a new coach Greg Schiano, who has the reputation of putting a well disciplined side on the field.
Buccaneers do have a weak link in the defence, as they usually are unable to keep up with the pace of a quality offence. Raiders’ offence could give a hard time to them.
The last contest between these two teams was held on December 28, 2008. Raiders won that game 31-24.
Head-to-Head
Raiders and Buccaneers have played eight games versus each other. Raiders are up with six victories while Buccaneers have won twice. These two teams have played each other once in playoffs.
