Opponent Preview: San Diego Chargers face Cleveland Browns and Tampa
Bay Buccaneers
We have been previewing opponents the San Diego Chargers will face in the 2012 season. This time we will focus on games to be played in week 8 and 10 of the regular season.
Week 7 will be Bye Week for the Chargers.
The two games we are going to preview right now are less threatening for Chargers. They will be looking to come through victorious in both matches.
Week 8: Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns have been in a developing stage for the last two seasons. This has severely affected there standings in both the seasons. Last season, they finished 4-12.
This reformation is still in progress as they have drafted quarterback Brandon Weeden, and he will also take time to settle with the pace of the professional league.
Moreover, Browns have not decided as to who will be their starting quarterback. So Chargers’ defence will have the chance to stop Browns’ offence in their own backyard.
Chargers will also be coming from a bye week, so they will be fresh and ready to take on Browns.
Last game between Browns and Chargers was held in the 2009 season. Chargers won that match 30-23.
Head-to-Head
The two teams have played 22 games versus each other. Chargers are ahead with 14 wins to seven wins by Browns while one game ended in a tie.
Week 10: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Although their last season performance gives the impression that Tampa Bay Buccaneers will again be a soft opponent, this might not be the case this season as now they have a quality coach Greg Schiano to go along with a well balanced
roster.
Buccaneers’ owners The Glazers have spent a lot of cash this offseason on renewing the contracts of their veterans.
Chargers should not take Buccaneers easy. They have built up a very dynamic offence. Chargers’ offence will also have the chance to shine. When it comes to passing rushes, Buccaneers defence lacks the pace.
The last time these two sides met each other was in 2008. Chargers won that game comprehensively, finishing it with a 41-24 score.
Head-to-Head
Chargers have a dominant record against Buccaneers. Only nine games have been contested between these two sides. Chargers have won a massive eight times while the Buccaneers have won just once.
