Opponent Preview: San Diego Chargers face off Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals
Opponent Preview of San Diego Chargers continues as we cover the games of week 12 and 13 of the 2012 regular season.
Chargers will again face Denver Broncos for the second time this season in week 11. After being on the road for two consecutive weeks, the Chargers will finally be at home for week 12 and 13 games.
Injuries and tiredness might come into play during this time of the season. A long and energy consuming season could start taking its toll on old players.
Week 12: Baltimore Ravens
As compared to the last season, Baltimore Ravens could see a considerable amount of drop in the number of wins this season.
Last season Ravens finished with 12-4 and qualified for the playoffs. They won their first playoff match. Yet they were unable to reach the Super Bowl after losing to New England Patriots in a sensational encounter.
This season, older players are the biggest problem for the Ravens. This is particularly true for their defence.
Ravens do not have the depth to cover their defensive line-up if any veteran gets injured.
Although they had the second-best defence in the entire league in the previous season, most of the defensive players have passed their peak.
Chargers must not underestimate themselves in front of Ravens as they were able to beat the Ravens last season as well.
Head-to-Head
Chargers and Ravens have played eight games against each other. Both of them have won four games each. Last encounter between the two sides took place in the last season in which Chargers won 34-14.
Week 13: Cincinnati Bengals
Last season they finished 9-7 and if you think that Cincinnati Bengals had a good season, then you might be in for a blast.
Bengals have added great depth to their roster this offseason. They have drafted quality young players for both the defence and the offence.
With vastly talented players in the team, they could finish this season at the top of the American Football Conference (AFC) North.
Chargers defence will face an uphill task while confronting Bengals dynamic offence. Chargers will have a chance of containing them by putting their rushing game.
The last time these two sides met was in the 2010 season, in which Bengals came out victorious 34-20.
Head-to-Head
Both teams have played 32 games against each other. San Diego Chargers lead the head-to-head record with 19 wins against 12 of Bengals. These two sides have played one playoff game against each other.
