Opportunities in Anthropology/sociology in East Asian Nations?

Are there opportunities in the field of Anthropology/sociology related careers in east Asian nations such as Japan, south Korea, Hong Kong etc ? What sort of careers can one expect in these nations in such subjects ? Are they seen with respect in those societies ?

Yes, it is a HUGE hot spot for biological anthropologists right now.  One of the most hotly debated issues comes from ancestry of American Indians and many Anthropologists believe that East Asia was the most direct migration route and is therefore the place where Native Americans came from.

Another great place in Anthropology is studying Mayan remains because of new gps and imaging technologies. By the way, native americans (south, central, and north) don't like anthropologists too much.  And stay out of North Korea... obviously.
