Opportunities open up for Foxtrot Romeo after his commendable performance in the Abu Dhabi Irish 2,000 Guineas
Foxtrot Romeo’s brilliant performance in the Group 1 Abu Dhabi Irish 2,000 Guineas did not go unnoticed as connections are lining him up for bigger and better events, where he can exhibit his superior racing ability again.
The mega-event took place at Curragh on 26th May, 2012, where the three-year-old colt was paired with rider, N.G. McCullagh. His performance came as a surprise as he was entered with a 33-1 shot, finishing as a runner-up to
winner, Power, by a small margin of 1 length.
The son of Danehill Dancer, out of mare Hawala, who is under the training of Bryan Smart might compete in the St. James's Palace Stakes, scheduled to take place at Royal Ascot on 19th June 2012 or he will enter the Prix Jean
Prat in France on 1st July, 2012.
The Andrew Tinkler owned runner is still young and has time to gain experience to improve his racing skills. Without a doubt, the performance at Curragh was commendable, but it is only a glimpse of what the bay colt can really do.
Foxtrot Romeo began his career on 18th August, 2011, and raised his esteem as he claimed a victory in the British Stallion Studs E B F Debutants Maiden Stakes at Hamilton, where he responded well to jockey, Tom Eaves’s command
and dominated the six furlong track by defeating Richard Fahey trained Personal Touch by 1 ¾ lengths.
The young runner finished fourth in the next two starts that followed, once in Doncaster and once in Newbury.
Tim Jones, who is the racing manager to owner Andrew Tinkler, expressed delight with his performance at Curragh and stated that:
"He ran well at the Curragh and he's a nice horse. He's not done anything wrong."
He added:
"It was great to see him justify Bryan's faith and run so well in Ireland.
"There's obviously the St James's Palace. He's got an entry in that and that is the natural course.
"Alternatively you can sit and let Ascot pass you by and wait for a race like the Prix Jean Prat, which is an option out of the heat of the Ascot furnace."
