I am a rather serious person and when I sip a few beer, I feel very relaxed and talkative. HOwever, one of my friends, who is like the most relaxed and chill person ever, when he drinks some beer, he says he feels more tense. I thought beer always made you feel relaxed, or rather does it change one's personality to the polar opposite?

  1. Your friend's response to alcohol is unique.

Generally alcohol makes a person's inhibitions lessen, and they become more animated, more talkative, as you describe for yourself.

  2. Alcohol removes some inhibitions - filters if you like - and allow people to show their true self more.

Maybe your laid back friend puts on a laid back disposition as a front.

  3. The effects of alcohol on personality are disparate.  It technically is a relaxant, but that does not always correlate with feeling relaxed.
