Question:

Optical Out on Denon 3805?

I have an Xbox 360 hooked up to a Denon 3805 receiver. The output from the Xbox is going into the Optical 3 input on the 3805. I have that assigned and working fine. I just got a Tritton surround headphone set and want to use it with my Xbox. I tried connecting the Optical 3 output from the Denon to the Tritton decoder box, but am not getting any sound. I don't see anywhere to map the settings on the Denon. I assumed whatever is going into the Optical 3 on the Denon would be the source automatically coming out of the Optical 3 output on the Denon. Any help?

  1. Does the denon offer an"output" for optical 3? I thought the denon av recievers offer one output for whatever input they were on. Also, the seakerphones may only accept 2-channel PCM instead of dolby digital.

Are these surround sound headphones? Or stereo ones? If they are stereo only then take the L+R pre-out from the denon and plug those in.

Better yet, use the "2nd zone" function, make sure the reciever outputs it as "fixed," that way you can listen to something totally different than what's on the main room!
