Optical cables questions. Thanks for answering !!!?

1. are they only for audio? or video too?

2. Can I find a cable with one optical end and one red/white cable end? ( my TV has optical out, but my stereo only has the traditional red/white audio holes)

1. They're for audio only, but they do carry a digital signal. So they could theoretically carry other things like video. It's just that nobody uses them like this.

2. You don't have to worry about finding that cable, because your stereo cannot receive or even interpret the signal. You'll have to stick to your Red/White's for now or upgrade to a newer receiver.
