Options for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid outcast Pedro Leon – Spanish La Liga debate
As Jose Mourinho builds his squad to match the excellence personified by Barcelona, the future of promising Spanish youngsters http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Canales-c33052 and Pedro Leon are hanging in the balance. The players have failed to establish themselves at Real Madrid, appearing
sporadically in their debut campaigns.
The future had looked bright for the Spanish duo in June 2010 as they signed for the world’s biggest club. Real Madrid came calling even before the players had finished the season and no player can dodge the lure of Los Galacticos. One year down the road,
things look starkly different.
The 2010/11 La Liga season was modest by the Madrid giants’ standards as they were able to win only the Copa del Rey after spending lavishly in the last two seasons. Following an emphatic loss to Barcelona in the season’s first El Clásico, things looked
bleak for the Real Madrid youngsters as a run in the playing eleven seemed remote.
In the ongoing transfer window, Madrid have boosted the numbers in midfield, signing Borussia Dortmund’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamit-Altintop-c15652 from Bayern Munich. First team opportunities look bleak for the stars of tomorrow as they are definitely not in Jose Mourinho’s
plans, at least not from the looks of it.
Pedro Leon has been linked to a host of clubs after his miserable season where he warmed all the Madrid benches. Valencia are keen on the midfielder as they seek a replacement for the departed Joaquin. A loan-move to the club remains probable as Real Madrid
would like to hold on to the talented winger.
English sides, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur, are keeping tabs on the skillful left-winger. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sylvain-Marveaux-c34432, and have made the Spanish player
their prime target.
Aston Villa, who lost http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221 and are in the market for a capable substitute.
Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp, has been a long-time admirer of the player and looks to sign him up as he prepares a team for another onslaught at the UEFA Champions League slots. The versatile player’s ability to play on either flank has clearly attracted
the manager.
The former Marcia youth product has a difficult summer ahead of him with his future under dark clouds. He has stated his desire to stay at the club and fight for his place in the starting lineup. This seems increasingly unlikely as the Madrid giants bring
in more recruits.
Leon’s desire to play for Los Blancos seems improbable under Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese tactician has stated that the player does not feature in his plans and should look for a new club. Pedro Leon has had a fractured relationship with Mourinho, with
the manager going to the press about the player’s exclusion from the squad.
Talking to Madrid’s official website, the manager had said, “He will play whenever he works like I want him to, and it will be more difficult for him to play when he doesn't."
It is unlikely that Pedro Leon will play under Jose Mourinho after being frozen out of first team action for this long.
The youngster has good alternatives at hand and should make use of them in search of glory elsewhere. The ambitious projects underway at Valencia and Liverpool seem the most likely destinations. There is a chance that Pedro can continue his contract at Real
Madrid by going on-loan to continue his development. Whatever the outcome may be, it is sad to see the enterprising player in such a state.
